' b) There will be compliance with applicable federal and Colorado water quality laws
and regulations.
c) There will be no dredge and fill operations.
d) Any temporary ditches constructed across drainways will be removed after the
disturbed areas are revegetated and stabilized.
'~ 2) Earthen dams may need to be constructed to control drainage as mining proceeds.
Wildlife:
1) Operations and conditions in the gravel pit area will have minimal impact on the wildlife
of this aria. This area is not known to be used exclusively for activities critical to the
life cycles of wildlife that require special consideration.
2) Upon vegetation establishment and maturation, the habitat will be managed as it was
before gravel mining. Vegetation will be established to provide suitable grazing range
for cattle and to provide adequate cover and feeding material for wildlife (bo[h game and
' non-game species).
Toosoiling;
'~ 1) Where present, topsoil will be removed to a depth of 4 to 12 inches prior to gravel
mining and stockpiled in the sections of the phased areas designated for stockpile storage
(see Reclamation Plan Map). If the soil is stockpiled for a period longer than one year,
the topsoil (interim) seed mixture will be applied during the growing season that follows
' stockpiling.
2) After existing trees (if any) are harvested for firewood, the remaining shrubs, fortis, and
tree limbs, along with grasses, will be chipped and incorporated into the topsoil and
stockpiled.
3) The stockpile(s) will be located in area(s) of minimal runoff and disturbance from the
' gravel mining operations.
' 4) The topsoil stockpile will be rehandled as little as possible. If relocation of a stockpile
is required, the Board or Division will be contacted for approval by way of a technical
revision.
' S) Stability of replaced topsoil will be assured by scarification and roughening of the final
grade (before topsoil placement) to minimize slippage.
,~,~.u,
i rtq: 1 1
