• include sandstone boulders and
blocks mixed with soil and
colluvium from adjacent cliffs.
32+00 to 42+00 Fill will be on slope wash
composed primarily of sandstone
and weathered sandstone derived
from cliff to right. TH-16 was
drilled on the alignment at
40+20. This hole encountered
about two feet of topsoil,
overlying about 13 feet of sand,
with about five feet of sandstone
below. Culvert probably not
necessary; french drain blanket
probably adequate to accommodate
drainage.
42+00 to 45+80 Cuts in sandy slope wash from
cliff to right. Boulders,
probably no more than two feet in
maximum dimension will be found
in cuts; may encounter bedrock in
lower parts of cuts. Some cut
slopes are up to slightly more
than 40' high and may need to be
• bermed particularly if they are
not in coherent bedrock. Can
steepen cuts from 1.6:1 to 1:1.
45+80 to 50+20 Cut and fill. Minor drain prob-
ably will not require culvert;
small french drain may be
appropriate.
50+2o to 53+40 Shallow through-cuts and deep
side-hill cuts on right, probably
will encounter sandstone boulders
up to two feet maximum dimension
in shallow cut zones and
predominantly sandstone in
through-cuts and major cuts.
Cuts in sandstone at about 1.5:1
to 2:1 can be steepened to 1:1 to
0.75:1 if needed.
53+40 to 63+00 Major side-hill cuts with minor
and major fills. Cuts from <10'
to 105' high, and extend to as
much as 195' horizontally from
centerline. Cuts will be in
sandy, bouldery material, and in
• predominantly sandstone bedrock.
Cuts could be steepened from
about 1.5:1 to 1:1; higher cuts
25
