(1) The
owner or operator shall demonstrate that the waste
stream will be compactible with the well materials
with which the waste a expected to come inm
contact, and submit Io the Director a description of
the methodology used to make Thal determination.
Compalibilily for purposes of this requirement is
established if contact with injected Buids will noI
cause the well materials to (ail to satisfy any de-
sign requircmenl imposed under § 146.65(b).
(?) The Director shall require continuous corto-
sion monitoring of Ihr construction materials used
m the well for wells in)ecting cortosive wore, and
may require such momeonng (or of her waste, by:
(i) Placing coupons a( the well construction ma-
ttrials in contact with the wore stream, or
(ii) Routing Ihr watt stream through a loop
constructed with the matenal used m the will, or
(iii) Usng an allemative method approved by
the Dienor.
(3) If a cortosion monitoring program is re-
quired:
(i) The less shall use materials idtmical to (hose
used in the construction of the well, and such ma-
tenals muss be continuously exposed to Ihr opeml-
mg pressures and temperatures (meuured m the
well head) and Bow rates of the injection oper-
ation: and
(ii) The owner or operaor shall monitor the ma-
terials far loss of mass. Tht bovom-hole cemem shall be Tested by
means of an approved radioactive Tracer survey
annually;
(3) An approved lemprmmre, noise, or other ap-
proved log shall be run al least once every five
years to less for movemem of Buid along the borc-
holt. The Director may require such tests when-
ever the will is worked over;
(4) Casing inspection logs shall be ran when-
ever the owner or operator conducts a workover in
which the Injection sinng Is pulled, unless the Di~
rector waives This requiremem due to well con-
strunion or other (actors which limit the Iesl's re-
liability. or based upon the satisfactory results of
a casing inspection log Ivn within the previous
five years. The Director may rcgwrc Thal a cuing
inspection log be run every five years, i( he has
reason to believe Ihm the imegriey of the long
string casing of the well may be adversely affected
by naturally-occurring or man-made events;
(5) Any other test approved by the Director in
accordance with Ihr proredures in § 146.8(d) may
also be used.
(t) Ambiem nulnitrnin,q (1) Based on a site-spe-
n(¢ usessment of Ihr polemial (or Buid move-
ment from ehe will or injection zone, and on ehe
potential value of monitoring wells to drten such
movement. the Director shall require the owner or
operator to develop a monitoring program.
