Mr. Jerry White
Lorimer County Planning Division
April 25, 1995
Page 3
This operation is directly related to the construction activity in the azea. Generally in the
winter months mining activity will be light. Through the spring it will progress, with
summer and fall being the busiest seasons. Generally speaking, the summer and fall
months will be twice as busy as the winter months.
The most concise way to explain the truck traffic generation is by the following Table 5-1.
TABLE 5-1 TRUCK TRAFFIC GENERATION
Quarter of the year Dec., Jan.,
Febr. March,
April, May June, July,
August Sept., Oct.,
Nov.
Percent of Sales .15 .25 .30 .30
Tons Sold 33,750.00 56,250.00 67,500.00 67,500.00
Working Days per Week 5 5 6 6
Working Days per Quarter 65 65 78 78
Working Hours per Day 8 8 8 8
Average Tons per Day 519.23 865.38 865.38 865.38
Average Truck Trips per
Day 45 75 75 75
Average Truck Trips per
Hour 8 13 13 13
A normal yeaz is divide into four, three month quarters. These quarters aze offset by one
month of a normal calendaz yeaz quarter. Also, the volume of sales on the summer and fall
months is twice as much as the winter months. Using these percentages on 225,000 tons
per yeaz sales, we can calculate up with tons sold during each quarter. Following through
the table, one can see how the average truck trip per hour aze calculated.
The number of truck trips may very greatly from the average and is dependent on whether
business is slow or busy.
The maximum number of employees working the sight will be 20. Therefore, there will
be a maximum of40 trips per day genetated by employees. Also, we expect an additional
eight trips per day will be generated by deliveries, inspections and miscellaneous traffic.
