technique. Details of the program components is provided in the following
discussion:
Visual Observation At Surface
WRN personnel will visually inspect the annulus area between the production
casing and the surface erasing to monitor the presence of the casing pack. If the
surface of the casing pack drops below a point where it can not be visually
observed, additional casing pack will be added to re-establish the casing pack to
a point where it can be observed. Quantities of mud pack required to maintain
the level to surface are recorded to evaluate leakage.
Temperature Logs
Baseline temperature logs are nin in the cased production hole immediately
following completion. 13ot water is circulated between the production wells
under normal operating conditions for a period of at least 24 to 48 hours. Next,
circulation is discontinued, and a temperature log is run in both wells over a
"cool down" period to establish a series of temperature profiles that can identify
significant fluid movemE:nt through vertical channels adjacent to the well bore.
The temperature logs are analyzed and compared to baseline temperature logs to
demonstrate the competency of the casing pack. Any voids in the casing pack
will show up on the log:> as cooler spots. Observation of the casing pack at
35
