• 3.5 Cases or boxes containing explosives shall not be stored in: <br />- Magazines on their ends or sides not stacked more than six feet high. Boxes of explosives <br />shall be stored at leas[ two inches away from the walls of the magazine. <br />- Explosives must be stored in such a manner as to insure issuance of the oldest dated <br />explosives first. <br />3.6 Explosive storage areas shall be properly posted with suitable danger signs. <br />3.7 Detonators will be stored in a separate magazine and not stored with any explosive. Detonator <br />storage magazines shall be separated by at least 25 feet from explosive storage magazines. <br />3.8 Ammonium nitrate-fuel oil blasting agents shall be physically separated from other explosives, <br />safety fuse, or detonating cord stored in the same magazine and in such a manner that oil does <br />not contaminate the other explosives, safety fuse, or detonating cord. <br />3.9 Locks and wheel chocks will be provided for all trailers used to store blasting agents other than <br />high explosives and detonators. <br />3.10 All magazines and trailers will be electrically grounded to eliminate the build-up of static <br />electricity. <br />3.11 The interior of the magazine must be kept clean and dry at all times. Magazines shall be used <br />exclusively for storage of explosives or detonators. <br />• 1V. Inventory Control <br />4.1 All magazines shall contain a written inventory record at all times. <br />4.2 Anytime a transfer of blasting supplies either to or from a magazine occurs during a shift, the <br />magazine inventory sheet must reflect the transaction. <br />4.3 At the end of each shift the magazine inventory sheets used during the shift will be removed <br />from each magazine after entering the end-of-shift inventory on another inventory sheet will <br />remain in each magazine. <br />4.4 The transactions on all magazine inventory sheets for that shift will be compiled by the Shooter <br />to complete a "Summary Inventory Report" for that ship. <br />4.5 A copy of the summary inventory report will be attached to the daily blast report. The original <br />copy of the Summary Inventory Report will be retained in the "Magazine Inventory Book" <br />located in the office of the Construction Superintendent [or Civil Contractor. <br />V. Transporting of Explosives <br />5.1 Only experienced employees who understand the hazards involved shall be allowed to handle or <br />transport explosives or detonators. <br />5.2 Trainees shall handle or transport explosives or detonators only if under the direct supervision, <br />and in the immediate presence of, experienced personnel. <br />. 5.3 Vehicles used to transport blasting supplies shall meet the design specification included in <br />federal safety regulations and shall be posted with proper warning signs. <br />
