HB_1561 continued_page 5
Chairman: "Representative Hayes"
Hayes: "Mr. Chairman, and members of the Assembly, as a person
who once spent ten days residing in the Windsor Hotel
on Larimer Street in Denver, uh..I'm very pleased to see
a bill of this nature. I think it will help in the
preservation of some of our national historic sites and
I think Colorado really lost something tremendous as a
link in its past when it did lose the Windsor Hotel.
Ah..as I say, I..when I first came to Denver I stayed there
for a little bit till I could get on my feet and find
someplace else to stay. But.ah.the old Windsor Hotel
had a fireplace in every room, it had ah.. marble a..tops
on the dressers, and .uh..and uh..various other articles
in the room. Uh..it was a very interesting place and I
think this should have been kept as a momento to future
generations. And I might say to you people from Colorado
Springs, I think you lost a tremendous asset when you
lost the Trianon that was down in the Broadmoor Area.
I think you did something that you should have kept."
Chairman: "Is there any further discussion on House Bill 1561?
The Question before the Committee, then, is the adoption
of second reading of House Bill 1561 as amended. All those
in favor signify..signify...by saying "aye"...Opposed...House
Bill 1561 as amended passes second reading."
