Bi:iou-1Jiaton area <br />Deep, nearly level to moderately sloping, well and excessively drained <br />sandy soils that formed in noncalcareoue sandy alluvium and eolian <br />materials. <br />This soil area is in the south central part of the survey area. It <br />occupies about 3 percent of the total acreage. About 60 percent Bijou <br />soil, 15 percent Wigton soil, and the remaining 25 percent is soils of <br />minor extent. <br />:. The Bijou soil has loamy sand and sandy loam surface layers and sandy <br />loam subsoils. The lJigton soil has a loamy sand surface layer and <br />loamy sand and sand underlying layera. <br /> <br />The minor soils in this area are the well drained Ascalon, Olney, <br />and Vona soils, the excessively drained Yalent soil and the somewhat <br />excessively drained Ellicott soil. <br />Moat of this soil area is used for livestock grazing. Some cropland, <br />both dryland and irrigated, is scattered throughout the area. Irrigation <br />is done by use of the circular sprinkler type system. <br />This soil area has good potential for homesites. Wildlife habitat <br />potential is fair. <br /> <br />3y <br /> <br />
