Stoneham-Ascalon-Fort Collins area <br />Deep, nearly level to etrang~ly sloping well drained loam and sandy <br />loam soils; formed in mixed alluvium and eolian materials. <br />This soil area is on uplands in the south central part of the survey <br />area. It occupies about § percent of the total acreage. .About 25 <br />percent ie the Stoneham soil, 20 percent Ascalon soil, 20 percent Fort <br />Collins soil, and the remaining 35 percent is soils of minor extent. <br />The Fort Collins soil has loam surface layers and the Ascalon and <br />Stoneham soils have mostly sandy loam surface layers. The Ascalon soil <br />also has darker colored surface layers than do the Stoneham and Fort <br />Collins soils, <br />~ The minor soils in this area are the well drained geith, Olney, Voaa, <br /> and Wiley soils. ' <br />This soil area is used mainly for livestock grazing. Cropland is very <br />limited because of the low amount of precipitation. <br />The potential for hemesites is good and fair for wildlife habitat. <br /> <br /> <br />31 <br />
