It is a peren- nial bunchgrass that reproduces sexually. It is not weedy or poisonous. Big bluegrass grows best in dry-moist sites. Growth on clay loam, loam and sandy loam is good. This plant grows best on gentle and moderate slopes and is rated medium in its ability to control erosion. Establishment requirements for big bluegrass are medium. Short term revegeta- tion potential is medium and long term revegetation potential is high. This grass biomass production is rated medium. It provides good cover for game birds, small non-game birds, and small mammals. Food value of big bluegrass is fair for all classes of wildlife present at the Edna Mine.
