• z/az <br />Dargol series. <br />The Dargol series consists of moderately deep, well drained soils <br />on mountain tops and side slopes. These soils formed in residuum <br />derived from shale. Slope is 3 to 45 percent. Average annual <br />precipitation is Ia to 22 inches, and average annual air temperature <br />is 42 to 45 degrees F. <br />These soils are fine, mixed, Typic Eutroboralfs. <br />Typical pedon of a Dargol stony loam in an area of Dargol-Fuera- <br />Vamer complex, 10 to 45 percent slopes, about 1,640 feet west and <br />2,240 feet north of the southeast corner of sec. 32, T. 34 S., R. 65 <br />W. <br />02 2 01--1 inch to 0; partially decomposed and decomposed pine <br />needles and twigs. <br />E--0 to 5 inches; light gray (lOYR 7/2) stony loam, dark grayish <br />brown (lOYR 4/2) moist; moderate fine granular structure; slightly <br />hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; 30 percent <br />stones, 10 percent cobbles; medium acid; abrupt smooth boundary. <br />L't1--5 to 9 inches; grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) clay, dark grayish <br />brawn (lOYR 4/2) moist; weak coarse prismatic structure that parts to <br />moderate fine angular- blocks; extremely hard, very firm, very sticky <br />and very plastic; thin continuous clay films on ped faces; slighlly <br />acid; clear smooth boundary. <br />L't2--9 to 28 inches; grayish brown (2.5YR 5/2) clay, olive brown <br />(~.SY 4/4) moist; moderate very fine subangular blocky structure; very <br />• hard, firm, very sticky and very plastic; thin patchy clay films on <br />ped faces; slightly acid; clear wavy boundary. <br />R--28 to 60 inches; hard siltstone. <br />Depth to bedrock and thickness of the solum are 20 to 40 inches. <br />Thee control section is 5 to 20 percent rock fragments. Reaction is <br />slightly acid or medium acid. S horizon: Texture is clay or silty <br />clay. Hue is 7.5YR to 2.5YR.^ <br />
