These soils formed in alluvium. <br />Slope is 1 to 4 percent. Average annual precipitation is iC to 25 <br />inches, and average annua air- temperature is 40 to 37 degrees F. <br />These soils ar-e coarse-luarny ever- sandy or sandy skeletal, mi:;ed, <br />frigid Cumulic Haplaquolls. <br />Typical pedon of Collegiate sandy loam, 1 to 4 percent slopes, <br />about ~,o4ir feet east and 0 feet north of the southwest corner of sec. <br />1~, T. ~~ S., R. E.8 W. <br />AS--O to 10 inches; very grayish dart: gray brown (lOYR 3/2) sandy <br />b arn, very dark brown (lOYRc-/2) moist; moderate medium and fine <br />grar~ular• str-uctur-e; slightly hard, very friable, nonstic);y, <br />rionplastic; neutral; clear- smooth Goundary. <br />A~--10 to 33 inches; dart: brown (7.5YR v/Z) sandy loam, very dar-1: <br />brown (7.5YR 2/z) moist; common fine faint mottles, strong brown <br />(7.5VR 5/6); wea6: coarse subangular- blocF:y structure parting to <br />moderate fine gr-ariular- structure; slightly hard, very friable, <br />slightly sticky; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br />• C1--3: to 60 inches; brown (7.5VR 5/4) very gravelly and c~~bbly <br />sandy day-); br-c~wn (7.5YR 4/4) moist; massive; hard, very friable, <br />r,r_~nsticl:y and nunplastic; neutral. <br />The mollic epipedur~ is 24 to 40 inches thick. Cedr-oc): is at a <br />depth .,f 60 inches or mare. The water- table is usually at a depth of <br />~4 to 36 inches.^The depth to sandy skeletal rnater-ial is 24 to 4U <br />inches.
