I1/o4 <br />• Allens Fark series <br />The Allens Park series consists of moderately deep, well drained <br />sails on hilltops. These soils formed in residuum from sandstone. <br />Slope is 5 to 15 percent. Average annual precipitation is 17 to 2''• <br />inches, and avar•age annual air- temperature is 42 to 45 degrees F. <br />These soils are fine-loamy, mixed Typic Eutroboralfs. <br />Typical pedon of Allens Park stony sandy loam in an area of <br />Gulnare-Allens Par•l: stony sandy looms complex, 5 to 35 percent slopes, <br />about 200 feet east and 150 feet north of the southwest corner of sec. <br />~5, T. 32 S., R, 07 W. <br />E--0 to 4 inches; pale brown (lOYR 6/3) stony sandy loam, brown <br />(10YR 4/~) moist; weak fine granular structure; slightly hard, very <br />fr•iat~le, nor sticky and nonplastic; 5 percent cobbles, 1 percent <br />stones; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br />L-;E--4 to 7 inches; brown (7.5YR 5/4) sandy loam, dart: brown <br />(7.5YR 4/4) moist; weak fine subangular blocky structure; slightly <br />hard, fr-iat~le, r~onsticky and nonplastic; 5 percent cobbles; sligF~tly <br />acid; clear smooth boundary. <br />Ptl--7 to 14 inches; brown (7.5VR 5/4) sandy clay loam, dark <br />brown (7.5YR 4/4) moist and crushed; moderate medium subangular blocky <br />structure; extr-ernely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; 5 percent gravel; <br />slightly acid; clear smooth boundary. <br />E;t2--14 to 1? inches; strong brown (7.5YR 5/E) sandy clay loam, <br />dark Grown (7.5YR 4/4) rnaist and crushed; weak fine and medium <br />subangular- blocV!y structure; extremely hard, firm, sticky and plastic; <br />10 percent gravel; slightly acid; abrupt wavey boundary. <br />• C-- 1~ to 24 inches; reddish yellow (7.5YR 6/6) sandy clay loam, <br />dark reddish brown (7.5YR 4/6) moist; massive; hard, firm, slightly <br />sticky ar~d slightly plastic; 15 percent gravel; neutral; abrupt wavey <br />t~our~dary. <br />Cr--24 to 26 inches; soft sandstone. <br />R--2/ to 50 inches; hard sandstone. <br />Depth to bedroc4: and thickness of the solum are 20 to 40 inches. <br />The control section is 5 to 15 percent rock fragments. Reaction is <br />medium acid to neutral. 13 horizon: Ter,ture is sandy clay loam. Hue <br />is 7.5YR or lOYR. <br />
