The site will be left as a shallow (15 ft. <br />deep) hole in the surrounding rangeland. <br />The site will be mined from the existing working area <br />towards the south and east. A dozer will be used to mine the <br />material and stockpile it for load out to the job site. We <br />expect to remove the upper 15 feet of a calcarious silty sand <br />deposit for use to dress and rebuild roads in the county. This <br />material is a silty loam that works very well on dirt roads and <br />reduces the maintenance work we have to do after wet periods. <br />Any topsoil encountered will be saved for use in reclamation and <br />placed either in the setbacks around the mined area or on the <br />floor of the excavated area. <br />Review of well data on the surrounding area indicates the <br />water table is more than 160 feet below the existing ground <br />surface in this area. We do not expect to encounter ground water <br />on this site because its floor elevation is approximately 178 <br />feet above the closest surface water feature. We will not affect <br />the hydrologic balance of surface or subsurface water in the <br />area. <br />The exterior slopes around the site will be maintained as <br />mining progresses so no side slope grading will be necessary if <br />mining ends prematurely. The exterior slope rate will be 3h to <br />lv from the existing ground level to a point that is approxi- <br />mately 15 feet below the existing ground surface. The floor of <br />the mine will be graded so there is a slight slope to the south- <br />west as shown on Map Exhibit E-2. Mining will be done by pushing the <br />material into piles from the upper level to the bottom of the <br />mine. using this method we avoid creating a vertical working <br />face on the site and reduces the amount of grading necessary as <br />mining ends. The RECLAMATION MAP-E-2 shown on the MAP PLAT shows <br />how we think the slopes will look when mining ends. The final <br />depth may be deeper depending on the actual reserves found as <br />mining progresses. If it is deeper the sloping plan presented <br />above will be followed. <br />This deposit is an alluvial deposit of calcareous silty sand <br />lying under the Manter loamy sand and Valent sand, 9 to 15% slopes soil <br />series. This deposit is typically found along the edges of the <br />sandhills that lie north and west of the North Fork of the <br />Republican River in northern Yuma County. it has an unknown <br />depth but we typically use the upper 15 feet of material.
