Any additional material capable of serving
as a growth medium which as encountered as waste in mining will be seper-
ately stockpiled in the topsoil storage area.
Topsoil will be protected from erosion by seeding and mulching with excel-
sior mat.
Seed mix for topsoil protection (broadcast):
Intermediate wheatgrass 6 lb./acre
Western wheatgrass 6 lb./acre
Pubescent wheatgrass 6 lb./acre
18 lb./acre
Arty non-useable material encountered in the quarry will be hauled back
and spread uniformly on benched and q~iarry floor,
Topsoil will be removed from the topsoil storage area and spread on the
benches and quarry floor uniformly. Topsoil depths are anticipated to
be 4-8 inches,
The topsoil will be seeded by broadcasting. The seedbed will be mulched
with straw or native g~xass hay at a rate of 6,000 pounds per acre.
Fertilizer requirements will be determined by soil testing prior to
seeding.
Juniper seedlings will be planted on 10 foot centers on the benches and
quarry floor.
Erosion control in the seeded area will be by means of straw dikes.
Seed mix for reclamation:
Intermediate wheatgrass 3 lb./acre
Streambank wheatgrass 3 lb./acre
Western wheatgrass 3 lb./acre
Pubescent wheatgrass 3 lb./acre
Smooth brome .75 lb./acre
12.75 lb./acre
(Double rate for broadcast seeding.)
