<br />Exhibit D - continued <br /> <br />cheatgrass and to a lessor extent June-grass and needle-and-thread. <br />Stands of Juniper are common in the southern section of the project <br />area. Tree canopy cover is usually less than 50Y. Herbaceous species <br />cover is sparce. Species may include aoldenweed, Indian ricegrass <br />and Canby bluegrass. <br />4. Soils <br />The soils in the northern portion of the project area are generally <br />brown to dark gray-brown, medium textured loam. A layer of river ter- <br />race soil intermixed with river gravel occurs within a few hundred feet <br />of Highway 40. <br />The soils in the northern portion of the area are generally shallow <br />and are the result of decomposition of sandstones and shales of the <br />Browns Park formation. <br />In the southern portion of the area, the soils types vary from brown <br />loam similiar to the northern area to a thin brownish layer of limey <br />loam which covers the limestone beds along the foothills of Juniper <br />Mountain, <br />l <br /> <br />
