SOIL DESCRIPTION <br />SOIL TYPE: Noden w/ 1 % - 9% slopes <br />ELEVATION: 6,200 ft. - 7,500 ft. <br />PERMEABILITY: 0.6 - 2.0 <br />USDA TEXTURE: Loam 0 - 7 <br />PLASTICITY: 0 - 5 <br />AVG. PRECIPITATION: 15 - 18 inches <br />AVG. TEMPERATURE: 47 - 52 degrees F <br />The soils in the proposed mining area consist of sandy clay loam, clay loam, and <br />loam itself, with a plasticity of 0-5. The soils in this azea range from 1 % - 9%, mostly <br />made up of gently sloping to extreme slopes, with an elevation of approximately 6,200 ft. <br />to 7,500 ft. <br />The soils aze shallow to deep and are formed of residuum, colluvium, alluvium, <br />and eolian material derived of sandstone, siltstone, shale, and little to not igneous rock. <br />The surface layer is made up of a grayish brown loam about seven (7) inches thick, and <br />of medium texture. The subsoil is clay loam averaging twenty five (25) inches thick, and <br />of moderately fine texture. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more is loam, and <br />of medium texture. <br />To a depth of twenty-five (25) inches, the soil is neutral. Any soil incurred below <br />twenty-five (25) inches becomes a mildly alkaline. <br />Permeability of the soil is moderate. Effective rooting depth is sixty (60) inches or more. <br />The vegetation in this area consists mostly of western wheat grass, blue grams, <br />needle and thread, cheatgrass, sleepy grass and much oak brush. Other vegetation in the <br />proposed mining azea may be but are not limited to Indian rice grass, prairie june-grass, <br />and side oats grams. <br />^ The annual production of vegetation is approximately 1,200 lbs per acre. <br />^ See Reference Pages supplied with this application <br />
