erosion control material but the pond currently has riprap at this
point. The embankment width needs to be widened to at least 8 feet
while maintaining the 4 foot requirement. A crack was observed in
the top of the embankment during the inspection but the depth of
this pond could not be determined.
51E-E -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 0.75 feet. The spillway needs to be extended 20 feet below
the toe of the dam and this extension will require erosion control
material. The spillway calculations are based on a width of 8 feet.
If the resulting spillway width after modifications are less than
8 feet, additional spillway calculations will be required. The side
slopes on the south and east sides of this pond do not meet the 3:1
requirement and will require repairs. The embankment upstream slope
does not meet the 2.5:1 requirement and will also require repair.
The spillway invert will require erosion control material but this
pond already has riprap at this point.
51-A -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 0.6 feet. The spillway currently extends 20 feet below the
toe of the dam but this extension will require erosion control
material. The side slopes on the northeast side of the pond are
2.6:1 and will require repairs.
51-B -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 2.4 feet in order to meet the 4 foot requirement. However,
• when this is done the bottom of the pond will be at a higher
elevation than the spillway crest. Therefore, the pond should
either be removed or re-built as per the permit requirements.
51-C -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 0.82 feet. The spillway needs to be extended 20 feet below
the toe of the dam and this extension will require erosion control
material. The spillway invert also requires erosion control
material but the pond already has riprap at this point.
51-D -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 1.91 feet. This modification will also correct the
inadequate residual freeboard at peak flow that currently exists.
The spillway needs to be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam
and this extension will require erosion control material. All side
slopes of the pond appear to meet the 3:1 requirement but the
slopes at the spillway along the embankment appear extremely steep
and should be repaired when the spillway is modified. The spillway
invert will require erosion control material but this pond already
has riprap at this point. A crack was noticed in the top of the
embankment during the inspection but the depth of the crack could
not be determined.
51-E -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 1.89 feet. This will also correct the inadequate residual
freeboard at peak flow that currently exists. The spillway needs to
• be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam and this extension
will require erosion control material. All of the side slopes
