7-E -- The major problem with this pond is that it does not meet
the minimum 10 acre requirement for the tributary area. However,
you had mentioned that CDMG may allow this pond to be retained
through the submittal of a minor revision. It is assumed that if
the minor revision is approved, the pond will still have to meet
all other requirements of the two agencies listed above. Therefore,
the side slopes on the south and west sides of the pond will have
to be reduced since there are areas where the slopes are steeper
than 3:1. One area on the south side slope measures at a 1.91:1
slope. Also, the elevation of the spillway crest will need to be
reduced by at least 1.33 feet to meet the 4 foot requirement. Also,
the spillway will have to be extended 20 below the toe of the dam
and will require erosion control material. Please note that the
spillway calculations performed for this pond were for a l0 foot
wide spillway. If the spillway is widened to a width less than l0
feet, additional calculations will have to be performed.
7-F -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
1.36 feet. This modification will also correct the inadequate
residual freeboard at peak flow that currently exists. The spillway
also needs to be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam and this
extension will require erosion control material. The side slopes on
the south side of the pond need to be reduced as there is an area
that is currently 2.14:1. The upstream embankment slope also needs
reduced as it is currently 2.1:1 which exceeds the 2.5:1
requirement. A crack in the top of the dam was also observed during
• the inspection but the depth of the crack could not be determined.
7-G -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 1.5 feet. Also, the spillway needs to be extended 20 feet
beyond the toe of the dam and this extension will require erosion
control material. All side slopes of this pond appear to meet the
requirements of the permit and the two agencies. A crack in the top
of the embankment was observed during the inspection but the depth
of the crack could not be determined.
9/10-A, 9/10-D, 9/10-H, & 9/10-J -- All four of these ponds do not
meet the minimum 10 acre tributary area. You have informed me that
CYCC will not try to maintain these ponds through the minor
revision process. Therefore, these ponds will be removed.
9/10-B -- The spillway of this pond needs to be extended 20 feet
below the toe of the dam and erosion control material will be
required in this extension. The grade of the upstream embankment
slope needs to be reduced from 2.29:1 to at least 2.5:1. The side
slopes of the pond on the east and south sides of the pond need to
be reduced to 3:1 as the slopes currently are as steep as 1.55:1.
The spillway width is currently about 3 feet wide, but after
modifications it should be at least 8 feet wide. This width will
match the width used in performing the spillway calculations. A
crack in the top of the dam was also observed during the
inspection. The depth of the crack could not be determined.
9/10-C -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced
