area on this embankment where the slope gets as steep as 1.2:1. It
may be possible to use the material from the spillway modifications
to correct this slope problem.
31-I -- The major problem with this pond is that it does not meet
the minimum 10 acre requirement for the tributary area. However,
you had mentioned that CDMG may allow this pond to be retained
through the submittal of a minor revision. It is assumed that if
the minor revision is approved, the pond will still have to meet
all other requirements of the two agencies listed above. Therefore,
the side slopes on the south and east sides of the pond will have
to be reduced since there are areas where the slopes are steeper
than 3:1. Also, the spillway will have to be extended and this
extension will require erosion control material. The elevation of
the spillway crest will need to be reduced by at least 0.99 feet.
The material obtained from this spillway modification could be used
to correct the steep slopes on the south and east sides of the
pond.
7-A -- The elevation of the spillway crest of this pond needs to be
reduced by at least 1.7 feet to meet the 4 foot requirement. The
spillway also needs to be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam
and this extension will require erosion control material. The side
slopes on the south and east sides of this pond will need to be
reduced slightly as they are currently about 2.75:1. The spillway
modifications will also correct the inadequate residual freeboard
• at peak flow that currently exists. A crack in the top of the dam
was also observed during the inspection but the depth of the crack
could not be determined.
7-B -- The elevation of the spillway crest of this pond needs to be
reduced by at least 0.96 feet to meet the 4 foot requirement. The
spillway also needs to be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam
and this extension will require erosion control material. The side
slope on the east side of this pond will need to be reduced as
there is an area which is currently 2.4:1. A crack in the top of
the dam was also observed during the inspection. The depth of the
crack could not be determined.
7-C -- The elevation of the spillway crest of this pond needs to be
reduced by at least 1.28 feet to meet the 4 foot requirement. The
spillway also needs to be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam
and this extension will require erosion control material. The side
slope near the spillway on the west side of this pond will need to
be reduced as there is an area which is currently 2.5:1.
7-D -- The elevation of the spillway crest of this pond needs to be
reduced by at least 3.78 feet to meet the 4 foot requirement. This
modification will also correct the inadequate residual freeboard at
peak flow that currently exists. The spillway also needs to be
extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam and this extension will
require erosion control material. The side slope of this pond
• appear to meet the 3:1 requirement.
