of the dam and erosion control material will be required in this
extension. The majority of the slopes meet the 3:1 requirement
except for one area on the south side of the pond which measures
2.5:1. The material obtained from reducing the spillway crest
elevation could be used to correct this slope. Reducing the
spillway crest elevation will also correct the inadequate residual
freeboard at peak flow that currently exists. Some small cracks
were observed in the embankment during the inspection.
31-C -- The spillway of this pond needs to be extended 20 below the
toe of the dam and this extension needs to have erosion control
material. The side slopes on the west and the east side of this
pond exceed the 3:1 limit with the west side slopes being as steep
as 2.25:1.
31-D -- The tributary area for this pond is only 7 acres while the
minimum tributary area stated in the permit is 10 acres. Due to the
location of this pond, moving it down the grade to obtain the
minimum requirement would position it very close to Pond 31-F.
Therefore, this pond should be removed.
31-E -- The tributary area for this pond is only 7.3 acres while
the minimum tributary area stated in the permit is 10 acres. Due to
the location of this pond, moving it down the grade to obtain the
minimum requirement would position it very close to Pond F.
Therefore, this pond should be removed.
• 31-F -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
1.65 feet. This change will also correct the inadequate residual
freeboard at peak flow that currently exists. The spillway needs to
be extended 20 feet below the toe of the dam and this extension
will require erosion control material. For the spillway
calculations performed, it is assumed that the spillway will be
widened to at least 8 feet when the spillway is modified. The
majority of the side slopes are well within the 3:1 requirement
except for the west side slopes near the spillway. The slope in
this area is 2.6:1. This side slope can be repaired using the
material obtained from the spillway modifications.
31-G -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
0.25 feet. The spillway appears to be extended 20 feet below the
toe of the dam but this extension will require erosion control
material. For the spillway calculations performed, it is assume
that the spillway will be widened to 8 feet during the repairs. The
majority of the slopes meet the 3:1 requirement except for the east
side of the pond where the slopes are 2.44:1. This could be
repaired using the material from the spillway repair.
31-H -- The elevation of the spillway crest needs to be reduced by
at least 1.61 feet. The spillway needs to be extended 20 feet
below the toe of the dam and this extension needs to have an
erosion control material placed in it. All side slopes of this pond
. appear to meet the 3:1 requirement. However, the embankment
upstream slope does not meet the 2.5:1 requirement. There is one
