EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN (continued)
• The north side of this berm will be left untouched until the very end of the mine life, when it is
planned that part of the berm will be mined. At least 10 feet height or more will be left around the
perennial spring for the meadow area below along the Eagle River. This modification was made at
the request of the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The landowner has requested that the western
portion of this berm remain since it is near the occupied dwelling.
On the southern edge of the property, the top of slope for mining will be approximately 45 feet
north of the southern property line, due to the berm and property buffer distances. Creation of the
southern berm will minimize visual, dust, and noise impacts to the surrounding area. Mining will
occur below this top of slope at a grade of 2.OH: I.OV. All excavated slopes will be at a grade of
2.OH: I.0 or less.
Once the soil is stripped from the 10 acre area east of the drainage and the southern berm created,
the gravel in this area will be mined and processed. Excavation and processing will be carried out
• using front end loaders to remove the sand and gravel and transport it to the processing crusher,
which will be located inclose proximity. ~ blasting of any kind will be undertaken by this
operation. Equipment and facilities will gradually be brought to the site as room allows. Equipment
to be used for various operations may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers and loaders for earth
moving, a dragline for removing fines from the settling ponds, dump trucks for hauling specifica-
tion and pit run materials, and a water truck to control fugitive dust. The area will be excavated to
a depth of approximately 15 to 30 feet.
Once sufficient area has been mined for facilities, stockpiles and equipment operation, the
operation will then mine the remaining 5 acres east of the drainage after stockpiling the soil on the
south berm. Once this acreage is mined, topsoil from approximately 5 acres west of the drainage
will be stripped and used to reclaim 5 acres east of the drainage. All facilities will gradually move
to the west side of the drainage and the gravel on this side will be mined. The operation will
proceed in this manner until the remaining 13 acres west of the drainage is mined, mining and
• reclaiming 5 acres at a time, while keeping the total pit area to no more than 15 acres.
Carol Ann Permit CDMG Applicanon 10
