Locations of monitoring wells are shown on the Mine Area Surface and
Groundwater Hydrology Map, (Map 12), and Loadout Area Surface and
Groundwater Hydrology Map, (Map 13).
NOTE: The monitoring sites MW-7A, MW-7B and MW-22 were originally
included in the monitoring program. These wells have been intercepted by
underground mining activities and eliminated from the monitoring network.
Water quality samples will not be collected at MW-8 because the inside of
the casing has been contaminated with oil.
B. Samolina Freouencv and Procedure
1. Water level measurements will be taken quarterly at each
monitoring well.
2. Water quality samples will be collected and analyzed semi-
annually.'
C. Samolina Procedure
1. The following information will be provided on each sample
bottle label:
- Station/Well designation
- Date and time
- Bottle number
- Analysis code
- Individuals initials
2. Samples will be collected in such a manner as to minimize
physical disturbance at the sample point.
3. Sampling devices will be cleaned prior to use and samples will
be placed in clean sample containers which will be sealed at
the sampling site.
4. Samples will be placed in a cooler with ice immediately after
collection and will be shipped within 24 hours to a laboratory
for analysis.
5. Samples will be analyzed for the following parameters:
Suaaested Water Oualitv Pa rameters*
pH Nitrate - Nitrite
Conductivity at 25° Phosphate (PO 34 as P)
Temperature (field) ~ Sodium (Na')
Total Dissolved Solids Sulfate (SO')
Bicarbonate (HCO') Arsenic (AS)
Calcium (Cap) Cadmium (Cd)
Chloride (C1-) Iron (Fe)
Magnesium (Mg") Manganese (Mn)
Ammonia (NH,) Mercury (Hg)
Selenium (Se)
Zinc (Zn)
* Dissolved species concentration only.
6. Proper sampling and preservation procedures will be followed
for each of the parameters listed above.
