i .,
A
~ ~ `• ~. ~ ~
Mr. James B. McArdle
Mined Land Reclamation
May 13, 1982
Page 4
in fact, reduced the wildlife habitat in those areas. That easterly
one-half mile will be maintained in wildlife habitat whereby existing
trees within 100 feet of the centerline of the stream will remain in
place. It is the intent of the operator to try to improve the image
of St. Vrain Creek throughout his property as mining operations are
completed,
C. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan.
1. The applicant does not intend to build any dikes within the excavation
area. The replacement of materials removed will be constructed from
the overburden material which is mostly of a silt material. No exca-
vation utilizing a dozer will occur closer than 150 feet from the
centerline of the stream bed. All creek banks will be maintained or
replaced to the same elevation as existing bank elevations utilizing
the overburden material.
2. The applicant recognizes that the area is zoned agriculture and that
agriculture and wildlife habitat will be the future land use. These
areas will be revegetated accordingly. The area does have potential 0 ~
for increased beneficial use as suggested on the plans. Should such
rezoning to higher uses occur in the future, the area would be redev-
eloped accordingly.
3. All finish slopes will have a finished slope no steeper than 3:1 as
stated and shown on the plans. (See details) DEC
4. The Soil Conservation Service has been requested to provide a permanent
grass mixture for the site incorporating both native grasses and fortis.
The response to this request is included herewith as Exhibit A.
5. The applicant intends to follow the suggestion for planting of trees
and shrubs as outlined in this item. Assistance from an agency involved
with this type of revegetation will be utilized. This subject is
covered under item C-5, Sheet 3 of 6 of the attachment to the original
application. OK
6. The number of acres requiring grading and topsoiling are estimated
to be 50. ~K
7. Topsoiling is covered in sheet 3 of 6 under item C-4 of the attachment
to the original application. The applicant has committed to a topsoil
replacement of approximately 6 inches on the dike areas above waterline
and in other areas that might have been disturbed during mining oper-
ations. The soils analysis represent only about 6 inches of topsoil ~ ~
throughout the area. The applicant believes that to replace that top-
soil to the undisturbed depths is proper in this instance.
