The site has been subdivided into five loa, and is zoned I-I -Light Industrial. Properties
adjacent to this project aze zoned for industrial uses.
In general, reclamation of the site will consist of backfilling and compacting [he mined area with
the onsite overburden material and imported fill. Imponed fill materials will consist of inert.
non-hazardous soils, concrete, and rock. No imported fill materials shall have a dimension larger
than two (2) feet on any side, and no rock or concrete material larger than six (6) inches in
diameter will be placed within the final two fee[ of final grade.
The site will be regraded in accordance with the reclamation plan, which is essentially the original
topographic condition. However, a 109,000 cubic foot retention pond, constructed on the west
property line, will remain to address drainage issues associated with [he project site. The pond is
sized, and is proposed to be constructed in accordance with the requirements of the Stormwarer
Management Mama/ jot the City ojGrand Juncrron and :Mesa County. The site will be planted
with a diverse seed mix containing Jose Tall Wheatgrass, Alkali Sacaton, Western Whea[grass,
and Galleta.
All internal site gavel haul roads, material stockpiles. settlement ponds and noise berms will be
eliminated. The site will have a slight gradient to the west, with no slopes greater than I ;'o. The
fencing around the permit area perimeter will remain.
The reclamation proposed for this site, vacant industriaUcorttmercial land, is appropriate
considering the surrounding site as this area has been zoned by the City of Grand Junction for
industrial land uses.
Typiea! Reclamation Sequence:
As discussed in Exhibit D, mining will be progressive across the site, with the backfilling
operations following behind the sand and gravel highwall area. The backfill will be placed in
compacted, horizontal layers, or placed on a slope that is accessible for equipment to place and
compact the fill. Backfilling operations will no[ take place in an "underwater" condition because
the backfilling operations will be following the active sand and gravel mining highwall area,
which will be dewa[ered.
Once backfill material has been placed [o the elevations specified in the reclamation plan, topsoil
placement, mulching, seeding and fertilizing operations may be delayed until an area a maximum
of ten acres is size can be worked. Once a 10-acre maximum area is available to work, the deep
tilling, topsoil placement, mulching, seeding, and fertilizing operations will take a minimum of
hvo months to complete.
Prior to topsoil replacement, the reclamation area shall be deep tilled to remove excessive
compacted areas.
