A description of the corrective action taken should be included with the DMR Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) monitoring is required only for discharges to the Colorado River Basin. Total phosphorus monitoring is required only for dischazges to the DIllon Reservoir drainage azea (i.e., Ten Mile Creek, Snake River, Blue River, and all other tributaries to the Dillon Reservoir) and for discharges to the Upper Bear Creek drainage area. See specific facility certification ratiotrale to determine whether phosphorus monitoring is required. C. DEFINITIONS OF TERMS 1. "Continuous' measurement, is a measurement obtained from an au[omatic recording device which continually measures provides measuremenu. 2. "Daily Maximum limitation' means the limitation for this pazame[er shall be applied as an instantaneous maximum (or, for pH or DO, instantaneous minimum) value. The instantaneous value is defined as the analytical result of any individual sample. DMRs shall include the maximum (and/or minimum) of all ins[antaneous values within the calendar month. Any instantaneous value beyond the noted daily maximum limitation for the indica[ed parametcr shall be considered a violation of this permit. 3. 'Grab' sample, is a single "dip and take" sample so as to be representative of the parameter being monitored. 4. "In-sim' measurement is defined as a single reading, observation or measurement taken in the field at the point of discharge. 5. 'Instantaneous" measurement is a single reading, observation, or measurement performed on site using exis[ing monitoring facilities. 6. 'New source" is generally defined as a coal mine (or major alteration to a coal mine) the construction of which commenced after May 4, 1984. See 40 CFR 434.11 (j) for the complete definition. 7. "Quarterly measurement frequency" means samples may be collected at any time during the calendar quarter if a continual discharge occurs. If the discharge is intermittent, then samples shall be collected during the period [hat dischazge occurs. 8. 'Settleable solids analytical procedure" is contained in 40 CFR 434.64. The method detection limit for measuring settleable solids under this par[ shall be 0.4 mQ/P. 9. "Thirty (30) day average" means the ari[hme[ic mean of all samples collected during a thirtytonsecutive-day period. The permittee shall report the appropriate mean of all self-monitoring sample daza collected during the calendar month on the Discharge Monitoring Reports. Samples shall no[ be used for more than one reporting period. 10. "Total Metals" means the concenrration of metals de[ermined in an unfiltered sample following vigorous digestion (Section 4.1.3), or the sum of the concentrations of metals in both the disso:ved and suspended tractions, as described in Manual of Methods for Chemical Analysis of Water and Wastes, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, March 1979, or its equivalen[ 11.
