OTHER CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Other construction activities planned for the project area in 2006 may include
obliteration of user developed ATV trails. MCC will reclaim these trails as a part of the
Sylvester Gulch Road construction.
MCC may also install one or two radio repeaters to improve safety and
communications in the project azea. These repeaters aze solar-powered approximately the
size on an office desk. MCC would install them on existing drill pads or staging azea
locations and protect them with chain link fence panels.
MCC is also reviewing plans for drilling a hole into the back-end of the 19-21
Panel district to mitigate spontaneous combustion incidents. It is anticipated that such a
hole could be drilled from existing MDW pads. As these plans aze developed MCC will
review with the USFS and apply for an amendment to the Annual Operating Plan to
include the specific details.
PLANNED EXPLORATION HOLES
There aze no exploration holes planned for 2006.
DRILLING SCHEDULE
MCC will proceed with road construction and drilling activities upon approval of
this AOP and in accordance with the Conditions of Approval as referenced in the Forest
Service Decision Notice dated May 31, 2002, titled Coal Methane Drainage Project
Panels 16-24 Mountain Coal Company West Elk Mine.
Completion and approval of the Annual Bird Survey is anticipated by June 12. A
schedule of drilling is presented based on that date. Drilling is presumed to require 8 days
per hole including mobilization from site to site, setup, drilling, and rig down. Note:
The schedule below is based on using one drilling rig. This schedule is subject to rig
availability and/or MCC operating constraints.
2006 MDW DRILL SCHEDULE
LM 140
Drill Hole Location Duration Start
19-09 Mine Property 9 5/22/2006
19-10.5 Mine Property 7 5!31/2006
19-10 Mine Property 6 6/712006
19-18 Mine Property 10 6/7/2006
20-18 Mine Property 8 6/14/2006
20-14 Mine Property 8 6/23/2006
20-10.5 Mine Property 7 7/2/2006
20-06 Mine Property 7 7/10/2006
20-OS USFS-Box Canyon 8 7/18/2006
--20-21 USFS-Box Canyon 6 7/27/2006
Finish Comment
5/30/2006 Includes 2 da.
