Access to all drill sites will use the roads and trails approved in the Decision <br />Notice. All access routes will be maintained to accommodate 4X4 pickup trucks and a <br />drilling unit. A drilling unit is comprised of or part of the following equipment: truck <br />mounted or skid mounted drill rig, air compressors, air boosters, rig-up truck, boom truck, <br />utility trailers, fuel skidders, drill pipe laydown rack, crew trucks, and water trucks. <br />ROAD CONSTRUCTION <br />MCC will construct three temporary spur roads in 2006. These roads aze Sylvester <br />Road (temporary, pending USFS and CDMG approval of road design), Box Canyon Road <br />Extension, and 20-31 Spur. <br />Road Name Len Access to <br />Sylvester .8 mi West Flatiron Road <br />Box Canyon Road Ext. .6 mi 20-21.5/25,21-25.5/28 <br />20-31 Spur .03mi 20-31 <br />The projected locations of temporary roads and drill pads are provided on Map 2. <br />MCC will identify and mark the road alignments and pad locations prior to construction <br />for review and approval by the responsible USFS representative. <br />MCC has provided, under sepazate submittal, a road design, specifications, and <br />expected use standazds as required by the USFS and CDMG for the Sylvester Gulch <br />Road. <br />MCC will construct or install the temporary roads, drainage features, road <br />surfacing, MUTCD signs, gates, and other mitigation measures as defined in the field <br />with the responsible USFS representative. <br />The Box Canyon Road was reopened in 2005 and constructed to the Pad for 19- <br />06. The Box Canyon Road Extension will be constructed from 19-06 with a 14-foot road <br />width along the route of the previous jeep trail to access the pads for 20-21.5/25 and 21- <br />25.5/28. Provisions will be made during construction in accordance with best <br />management practices and USFS oversight to address the drainage along the road and <br />anticipated drainage issues with the proposed pads. It is also anticipated that gravel <br />placement will be required in several areas along the route. Gravel placement will be on <br />an as-needed basis and with the approval of the USFS representative. <br />MCC requests the ability to use pickup trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles, snow cats, <br />for primary access to the project azea. Specific needs with respect to winter access to the <br />project area will be discussed at the winter operations meeting in the fall of 2006. Heavy <br />equipment including but not limited to bulldozers, dump trucks, backhoes, track hoes, <br />water trucks, maintainers, will be utilized to construct and maintain the roads during the <br />field season.
