' `"
Karen A. Hellner
April 3, 1987
Page 2
intends to follow-up the issuance of the 111 Permit and file for a
110 Permit. It is anticipated that the operation could extend for
15-20 years under a 110 Permit.
7. Tne general proposed use of the mined material is for maintenance
of gravel alleys and streets, and other needs throughout the City.
Based on this reasoning, there is no way to predict the amount of
material to be mined in any given period of time.
8. Tlae site is within the 100-year flood plain of the Arkansas River.
Iii the event of a 100-year flood, the total proposed mine site would
bra underwater. The 100-year flood plain elevation is approximately
3609. Refer to sheet "3 of 3" of the Reclamation Plan (Exhibit D),
the existing ground elevation ranges between 3606 to 3608. Based
oii the above datum, a 100-year flood would cover the mine with 1 to
3 feet of water.
Exhibit D-Reclamation Plan
1. Site is to be graded to slopes of SH:1V or less.
2. Tlie City will conform to the reclamation proposals outlined by the
Soil Conservation Service (except for grading).
3. Reclamation would include the planting of some shrubs as per the
Division of Wildlife Reclamation Plan.
4. Ttie City proposes an ongoing reclamation schedule as the different
m:_ning phases are completed.
Hopefully, this information will satisfy your requirements. Should you
have ¢iny further questions, or require additional clarification, please
don't hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
~~t~^s---9~
William C. Thrailkill
Public.
