<br />Colorado Westmoreland Inc. -3- <br />There are a few very small openings (grassy meadows) along the creek bottoms <br />but positioned on the side slope away from the creek bottom proper. <br />These areas have been used exclusively for livestock grazing, wildlife and <br />recreational purposes. They have no potential for intensive crop production. <br />(6) Long Draw: <br />This area is accessible only by Jeep trail, horseback, or on foot! <br />Two soils comprise the draw bottom and lower portions of the hill sides on <br />either side of the draw. <br />These soils are: <br />32 - Delson loam on 3 to 12"- slopes. <br />33 - Delson stony loam on 3 to 20a slopes. <br />The steepness of slopes along Long Draw are in the high range of the slope <br />range shown above. Stucker Mesa Domestic Springs and pipeline are located <br />here. <br />The vegetation consists of Gambel oak, <br />service berry, choke cherry, rose with <br />grass, blue grass, slender wheatgrass, <br />numerous perennial and annual weeds. <br />dominated by the grass cover. <br />some willow & narrow leaf cottonwood, <br />the following grasses; western wheat <br />bromegrass and red top. There are <br />the two small narrow openings are <br />The area has historically been used by domestic livestock and wildlife. There <br />is no potential for crop production in this specific area. <br />In summary, all of the areas identified above have been historically used for <br />grazing of domestic livestock, wildlife uses, and recreation. None have been <br />supplemental flood irrigated for crop production and little or no potential exists <br />due to location, slopes and irregular topography, stony soils, un-availability <br />of irrigation water rights, elevation, and the short growing season. <br />All soils mentioned above are described in detail in 'the Paonia Area Soil Survey <br />docket. <br />If you need additional information, please contact me. <br />Sincer 1 y s, <br />L.
