mining limits of ~ Bedrock Mine ~1 we will u~ the sloping method
described above.
Final preparation and loadout may be done offsite on an
existing stone yard we operate southeast of the mine. Until we
have final approval to use the stone yard, the material will be
processed on the permit area. On-site equipment may include, but
not limited to, a motor grader, front-end loaders, forklifts, and
dozers.
Water will not accumulate in the mined area because of the
nature of the underlaying material. Consequently, we do not expect
to affect the hydrologic balance of surface or ground water
resources in the area. All stormwater will be retained on the site
and we do not expect to have a problem with runoff because of the
porous nature of the rock, and natural course of drainage away from
the mined area.
RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT D
6.3.4 - Final grading will be such that the topography is
appropriate to the reclaimed use of the property, i.e., rangeland.
Regraded slopes will be less than the law requires them to be, no
greater than 2h: lv. The Reclamation Plan Map -Exhibit E-2 on page 15 shows
how we think the area will look when it is reclaimed.
Seeding will occur between November 1st and April 15th or
after the first freeze and before the first frost. Seeds will be
drilled to insure maximum germination and most rapid cover
establishment. The seeding mix and species of grasses for the area
are shown on page 4 of this report. This is a seed mixture made up
of native grasses found on the site. We will obtain the seed from
a supplier in the area. We also expect to see a natural invasion
of forbs and woody plants from surrounding areas.
If this mix is not used, we will notify the Division of what
mix will be planted and give our rational for changing the mix in
the annual report following the change. Only inaccessible areas
(if any) will be broadcast seeded. If the seed is broadcast, the
seed rates will be doubled. No mulch will be used on the area. No
trees or shrubs will be planted at this time. We expect a natural
and typical invasion of Juniper trees and shrubs from surrounding
areas.
All available topsoil will be salvaged to resoil the excavated
area. We estimate the average depth of the replaced topsoil will
be twelve inches. Remember that this will be done IF the material
is available. It will be important to have at least this much soil
to assure the site can be successfully reclaimed as rangeland. We
will use the available topsoil salvaged from the stripping process.
Because of the small area in the permit, resoiling may not begin
until mining is complete on the entire 6.26 acre ± area.
