MINING PLAN (coNr) • • Exhibit C
an abundance of small stone and a lack of large stone because
market needs are for mostly large stone. It is likely that this
trend will reverse and we will have large stone and no small.
The entrance road is an existing road that supplies access to
the adjoining clay mine operated by Adiance, Inc. This road will
remain after mining is complete. It enters the permit area from
Siloam Road near the southwest corner of the site and crosses the
mining area from north to south. This road is also used by the
landowner for access to areas north and east of the site. It is
currently 15 feet wide and the location is shown on map exhibits
supplied with this application. Periodic grading will be necessary
to keep the road in its present condition. As mining progresses
and the road is disturbed or removed the road will be rebuilt so
there is access to property north of the mine site.
The eastern part of the permit area contains the smaller rip-
rap like material we sell. We will remove the smaller stone from
the existing waste piles, grade and shape the area and reclaim it.
This area is part of what we are required to correct as part of the
Cease and Desist order issued by the Board in March 1997.
Soil stockpile areas will be located on the areas shown on the
Mining Plan Map -Exhibit E-1 . When excavating began all soil encountered
was stockpiled along the east and west sides of the mine perimeter.
This soil will later be use for reclamation on the site. if the
soil stockpiles remain undisturbed for more that one growing season
a cover crop of Western Wheatgrass will be planted at a rate of 3.0
pls/200 Ft~.
Mining began near the west side of the permit area where the
rock is exposed. This established the floor of the mine and the
area where the rock can be selectively graded. We then worked out
from that point to the east, north and south. The floor of this
site gently slopes from east to west on the natural contour of the
slab rock. As we approach the outer edges of the permit area we
will leave enough room to create 3h to lv slopes from the original
surface to the bottom of the mine. Smaller pieces of waste rock
will be initially used to create the slope. A cover of finer
material will be placed over the course layer and the topsoil will
be replaced so the slopes can be revegetated with the approved seed
mix. Please refer to the Map ExhibitE-t on page 14 supplied with this
application to see how the area looks now. This sloping plan will
remain in place until the permit is approved for the Bedrock Mine
#1 is approved. When that permit is approved, we will transition
across the border between the two permit areas so the floor levels
match. Wherever the perimeters of this excavation will become
10
