~ i
Responses to Staff Questions
Page 5
25. DO THE CONTOURS ON THE RECLAMATION PLAN MAP REPRESENT
FINAL CONTOURS? OR IS THAT NOT A PROBLEM SINCE ALL AREAS
THAT NEED TO BE DISTURBED HAVE ALREADY BEEN AFFECTED?
Refer to accompanying contour map showing the approximate
contours of Pond No. 4 at its completed height.
26. WHAT PLANS DO STANDARD METALS HAVE WITH REFERENCE TO
RECLAMATION OF THE PORTAL AREA?
Refer to page I4 (narrative), paragraph 2, concerning
the mine yard reclamation.
27. ACCESS ROAD/HAULROADS ARE SHOWN BETWEEN VARIOUS AREAS ON
THE MAPS. ARE THEY INCLUDED IN THE AFFECTED AREA? WHAT
IS THE HISTORY OF SAID ROADS? WILL THEY REMAIN UPON
RECLAMATION?
All access roads associated with the operation were
construed for tailings pond development and maintenance, and
are included in the affected area. They are currently i.n use
as maintenance roads for the reclamation project and wi7.1 be
reclaimed as moderately disturbed areas. The haul road from
the mine to the mill is Colorado Highway 110. The apprc>ximate
alignment has been in use for about 100 years.
28. AREAS OF DISTURBANCE -- MAJOR, MODERATE AND MINOR ~~RE
SHOWN ON MAP #3. ARE THESE AREAS OF DISTURBANCE CCRRENTLY
EXIST, OR DO YOU INTEND THESE TO APPLY THROUGHOUT 7.'HE LIFE
OF THE MINE?
The major, moderate and minor disturbance description
of these areas as shown on Map 3 is the status of these parti-
cular areas at the present time. The Reclamation Timettible
(page 45) explains the changes these areas will encounte=r on
a yearly basis.
29. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT FUTURE TAILINGS DEPOSITION IN ~1REA
#4 MAY EFFECT HIGHWAY 110 WHICH I UNDERSTAND HAD BIiEN
RELOCATED IN THE PAST?
The newly located Highway 110 will not be affec+_ed by
Pond 4 development.
30. ARE THERE CURRENTLY ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR EMISSION ]?ERMITS
FOR DUST EMISSIONS ASSOCIATED WITH SURFACE RELATED
ACTIVITIES OF MINING? (MILLING/TAILINGS)
There are no requirements for emission permits :Eor dust
emission from the operation.
ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS
1. WHERE IS THE EXACT PERMIT AREA? IT SHOULD BE SPECIFICALLY
OUTLINED AND LABELED IN THE MAP.
The exact permit area of the milling operation can be
located by correlating the legal description areas with the
reclamation areas drawn on Map 3. The mine portal permit area
can be located on the accompanying index map.
