FYequencY and Sample Type - Acute WET Testing <br />Quarterly test results shall be reported along with the Discharge <br />Monitoring Report (D~IIt) submitted for the end of the repartisx7 calendar <br />quarter (i. e., WET testing results far the calendar quarter erdixxg March 31 <br />shall be reported with the IIgt due April. 28, with the L~anairrizr3 WET testirg <br />reports sut~itted with Cl4lis due each July 28, October 28 and January 28). <br />The results shall be sukaaitted on the Acute Toxicity Vest report form, <br />available fran the Division. Copies of these reports are to be submitted <br />to both the Division aryl EPA. <br />The permittee shall crnduct eadi acute WET test in general ao~rdance with <br />methods described in the Division guidance doa~ent entitled Guidelines for <br />Conducting Whole Effluent Toxicity Tests. 'lhe permittee shall conduct an <br />acute 48-hour WEP test using Ceriodaphnia sp., and an acute 96-hour WET <br />test using fathead minnows. Acute tests will be replaoear~t static tests <br />of a sirxlle effluent grab sample. <br />8. Accelerated Testing <br />If an individual toxicity test shows toxicity at arty concentration less <br />than or equal to the following Instream Waste Cbnoentsation (IWC) or if 50: <br />species mortality in any dilution (including 100$ effluent) is detected in <br />any aorta WET test conducted in aooc¢dame with this permit, the peraittee <br />shall rloti.f~ the Division verbally within 24 hags aryl in writing (date of <br />receipt) within 5 days of reoeigt of written lab test results and proceed <br />with the following compliance schedule. <br />Discharge Point IWC ' <br />002 & 005 10.4 3 <br />Within 7 days of beocmirfg aware of the toxidty, the permittee shall <br />. then begin weekly axelerated testin7 of the disd~arge with whichever <br />species has proven (thrwc~ the first instance of toxicity) to be the <br />most sensitive. 'Ihe permittee will curttirntta such testing with one <br />species until 2 oonsewtive weekly tests demorLStrate aorta toxicity, 2 <br />consecutive weekly tests demonstrate no acute toxicity or a maxinnmm of 5 <br />weekly tests have been o~nducted. If no aorta toxicity was demonstrated <br />in the 2 oonsecutive weekly tests or in 3 of the 5 weekly tests, the <br />permittee shall restane routine quarterly testing. In all other cases, a <br />pattern of toxicity has been demcrostrate3 aryl the permittee shall <br />proc.~eed with the Preliminary Toxicity Izivestigation. When a pattern of <br />toxicity is demonstrated, the permittee shall orally notify the Division <br />within 24 hours of beoaning aware of the test result which demonstrates <br />the pattern of toxicity and in writing within 5 days (date of receipt) <br />- after receiving the written lab test result which demonstrates the <br />pattern of toxicity. <br />
