<br />2. Sources to the Treatment Plant:. Ta61e II-1 shows the active outfalls, their purposes and other relevant information about the
<br />treatment sources. ere are no new sources since the latest permit amendment alt{tough some minor changes have occurred.
<br />This is discussed in the next section.
<br />3. Chemicals Used: The permittee specified aluminum su fate as a chemical that may be used in mine water treatment for
<br />occu ation; owever, they stated that no chemical treatment has been a plied since Outfall 013 came on-line in 1997.
<br />Aluminum sulfate is acceptable for use as recommended by the manufacturer~r site-specific use.
<br />Prior to use of any additional chemical, the permittee muss submit a request for approval that includes the most current
<br />Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for that chemical. Until approved, use of any chemical in waters that may be discharged
<br />could result in a discharge ofpollutanu not authorized under the permit. Also see Part ILA.1. of the permit. Chemicals deemed
<br />acceptable for use in waters that will or may be discharged to waters of the State are acceptable only when used in strict
<br />accordance with the manufacturer's site-spectfic instructions.
<br />B. Wastewater Treatment Description
<br />The following changes to the wastewater treatment system have occurred:
<br />Sediment pond MB-4 (Outfall 008) has been relocated and lined with concrete. Sediment ponds MB-2R (Outfall 004) and MB-3
<br />(Outfall 005) have been lined with geotextile clay. Sediment ponds MB-1 fOut(a11016), RPE (Outfall 01 S), SG-1 (Outfa11014), and
<br />the polishingponds for. the domestic WWTF (internal Outfa 1 007) and the ewatering Borehole Facility (Outfall 0 7) have been
<br />lined with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) liners.
<br />Pursuant to the authority of Article 9, Title 25, Regulations for the Certification of Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater
<br />Treatment Plant Operators, t is facility will require a certified operator.

<br />A. Monitoring Data

<br />occurred intermittentl from Outfa 0 S, 0118 009, 014, and 015, (all of which contain surface runoff water, only). However,
<br />na exceedences of a uenf limits occurred and'iherefore no summary of effluent characteristics is rov:ded or the e~ve ou~Jails.
<br />Discharge occurre om Outfa11013, a mine water discharge, from January 1998 through June 2000, andffrom dutfall 016, a
<br />mine water and since runoff water discharge, during the second calendar quarter of 2000. However, since no exceedenees
<br />occurred and because no recent discharges within the past two years have occurred, a summary of the effluent characteristics
<br />from these two outfalls is not provided. ~ _
