2.05.3(1) <br />(1) A description of the specific type and method of coal <br />mining procedures an3 proposed engineering techniques, anticipated <br />annual and total production of coal by tonnage, and the major <br />equipment to be used for all aspects of those operations. <br />Grand Mesa Coal Company's Red Canyon Al Mine will mine the "E" <br />coal seam using a room and pillar method. Refer to the Mine <br />Plan Map, 2.05.3(1)-1, for details on the layout ~f the mine. <br />Due to the subsidence impact associated with the geology and <br />hydrology (refer to the General Description of Nydrology and <br />Geology, Section 2.04.5, the Geology Description, Section <br />2.04.6, and the Hydrology Description, Section 2.04.7) of the <br />permit area, limited extraction is planned. rn extraction <br />rate of 50 to 55 percent is planned in the panels. <br />. Omen Grand Mesa Coal Company took over operation of the Red <br />Canyon #1 Mine, in 1978, the access portals had already been <br />determined. Refer to Section 2.05.3(3) for a narrative of the <br />portals. <br />The Mine Plan Map, 2.05.3(1)-1, shows the present mine workings. <br />- These projections are for four years mining. Typical mining <br />sequences can be seen in the Ventilation and Roof Control Plans <br />submitted t0 t15HA. Copies of these plans are available at the <br /> <br />REVISED March 9, 1984 -7ga- <br />
