2.05.2(2)
was projected at 350,000 tons per year for Red Canyon Al !line
and 650,000 tons per year for Red Canyon M2 Mine. These figures
could easily be doubled with the right market.
Surface operations corresponding to the projections of one to
two million tons per year would require adequate coal handling
facilities, bathhouse-office and parking facilities, shops,
warehouses, storage yards, and other associated facilities.
Assuming a simple truck loadout, the 126 acres of free surface
in the area of the present surface disturbance would be adequate
to handle the proposed surface operations. No long term pro-
jections have been made on surface facilities.
Track loadout facilities will eventually be installed somewhere
in the mine vicinity. There are questions, however, about common
or separate loadouts for this mining location and Somerset area
interests.
(2) A general description and map describing the area of land
to be affected over the life of the operation.
No long term affected surface maps or loadout maps are being
submitted, because no long term decisions have been made. Map
2.05.2(2)-1 shows possible long term mining projections. Major
assumptions made for this map were: the availability of leases,
suitability of mining conditions, and suitability of coal quality
and market. The average seam heights used in these projections
are 4.6' for the "E" seam and 8.5' for the "D" seam. Extraction
was projected to be 508 for subsidence control, although
subsidence might be acceptable in some areas for a potential
extraction of 80-908 of the coal.
Section 2.05.3 Operation Plan - Permit Area
~. A detailed description of the specific mining operations proposed
to be conducted within the permit area.
REVISED March 9, 1984 -79-
