Copies of typical MSDSs for these materials are included in Appendix D. More
specific MSDSs will be provided once the manufacturer/supplier of each material has
been chosen. MSDSs for maintenance and janitorial materials are not provided because
the materials have not been specified. Maintenance materials will probably include
small containers of paint, vehicle maintenance fluids, lubricants, and cleanup solvents.
Janitorial materials will include various common cleaning supplies. More information
on maintenance and janitorial materials will be provided in the final Response Plan.
All of the significant materials will be stored indoors, with the exception of unleaded
gasoline and diesel fuel. All significant materials will be stored on concrete or other
impermeable surfaces. Boiler feed water treatment chemicals will be delivered to each
site in 280-gallon steel ur polyethylene totes. One tote will be stored near the boiler
system and the spare tote will be stored in the maintenance building at each site. The
MVR crystallizer chemicals will be stored near the MVR crystallizer in the Parachute
Site processing building. The MVR crystallizer is part of the sodium carbonate (soda
ash) processing line, which is located in the northern portion of the process building.
Approximately two 55-gallon drums of each of the MVR crystallizer chemicals will be
stored on site at any given time. Chlorinator solution, lime, and sulfuric acid will be
stored either in the process building or the maintenance building at the Parachute Site.
Approximately two 55-gallon drums of each chemical will be on site at any given time.
Unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel will be stored outdoors on bermed concrete pads.
The volume of the bermed area will be sufficient to contain the volume of the largest
container.
