• 3. Permanent stoppings shall be erected between the intake and <br />return air course and shall be maintained to and including the <br />fourth connecting crosscut outby the faces of the entries. <br />Before the fourth connecting crosscut is broken through, a <br />stopping will have to have been built. Whenever a belt move is <br />completed, temporary brattice shall be installed immediately and <br />work shall be started on building permanent stoppings as soon as <br />possible and shall be continued in a diligent manner until <br />completed. <br />4. Permanent stoppings having an expected life of greater than two <br />years shall be either dry-stacked blacks (8" x 8" x 16") coated <br />on both sides with at least 1/8-inch construction-type sealant <br />or have mortared joints. stoppings with a life less than two <br />years should be dry-stacked and coated on one side with <br />construction sealant 1/8-inch thick, coated on both sides with <br />non-fibrous type sealant, have mortared joints, or be of the <br />pro-panel design. <br />5. Belt separation stoppings shall be constructed in the same <br />manner as permanent stoppings. <br />6. Overcasts shall be constructed by using 8"x 8"x 16" and 2"x 8"x <br />16" concrete or cinder blocks for the supporting structure, and <br />• the overcast will be corrugated metal or equivalent. The <br />supporting structure shall be constructed the same as permanent <br />stoppings. <br />7. Belt overcast structures may be constructed using rail, steel, <br />cinder blocks or other non-combustible materials. <br />8. Regulators shall be constructed using 8"x 8"x 16" and 2"x 8"x <br />16" concrete or cinder blocks with a sliding door constructed of <br />sheet metal or equivalent. <br />9. Metal stoppings can be used as permanent stoppings if the life <br />of these stoppings is less than two years (short-lived areas). <br />J. PROPANE MINE AIR HEATERS <br />LP-Gas Heaters may be used at this mine to heat intake air. The <br />following provisions shall apply: <br />1. The installation will be approved by Coal Mine Health and <br />Safety. <br />2. All applicable provisions of 30 CFR 75 and 30 LFR 77 will apply. <br />3. M.S.H.A. will be notified at least 72 hours prior to the initial <br />• start-up at the beginning of each operating season. <br />-6- <br />
