• 5. Any corrective actions taken that result in the abatement of a <br />citation or order for high respirable dust concentrations shall <br />be incorporated into the ventilation system and methane and dust <br />control plan. A record shall be kept of all corrective actions <br />taken to obtain compliance and this record shall be made <br />available to MSHA. <br />G. METHANE CONTROL IN OUTBY AREAS <br />1. The methane content in any return aircourse other than an <br />aircourse returning the split of air from a working section (as <br />provided in Sections 75.309 and 75.310, 30 CFR 75) shall not <br />exceed 2.0 volume per centum. The methane content in the air in <br />active workings shall be less than 1.0 volume per centum of <br />methane. <br />2. Whenever a working section is completed and the operator does <br />not wish to continue to ventilate the area or permission to <br />ventilate the area is denied, the area shall be sealed. The <br />area shall be sealed according to Section 75.330, 30 CFR. <br />3. If the operator wishes to ventilate pillared or abandoned areas, <br />he will request permission to ventilate these areas in <br />accordance with Section 75.329-1, 30 CFR, from the district <br />• manager. <br />4. Intake air which passes by seals and is used to ventilate active <br />areas shall be examined in accordance with Section 75.303, 30 <br />CFR. <br />H. SECTION AND FACE VENTILATION SYSTEM <br />1. The belt entry is isolated from both intake and return air. A <br />check curtain will be placed over the section tailpiece. Air <br />flow at that point shall be directed outby. <br />2. Coal shall not be permitted to accumulate at the outby end of <br />the face equipment to the extent that ventilation at the <br />working face is restricted. <br />I. PERMANENT STOPPINGS <br />1. All ventilating devices such as stoppings, overcasts, and shaft <br />partitions shall be of substantial and incombustible <br />construction installed in a workmanlike manner and maintained in <br />a condition to serve the purpose for which they were intended, <br />and any stopping leaking air excessively shall be repaired <br />immediately. <br />. 2. Any wood materials used in conjunction with stoppings or <br />overcasts, etc. shall be coated with an MSHA approved fire <br />retardent or coated with an MSHA approved sealent. <br />-5- <br />
