RIGGING <br />1. Do not throw or drop objects lrom any eleva- <br />tions unless you are sure all is clear below. <br />2. Do allow anyone to pass under a suspentletl load. <br />3. Stay clear o! the bite of the cables. <br />4. Safety belts shell be worn when working in high <br />places. <br />5. Make sure the hook rs straight and "moused" if <br />a safety pin is not provitled. <br />6. Inspect slings to make sure they are not damaged, <br />end the load is properly balanced. <br />7. Tag-lines shall he used when handling long or <br />bulky loatls or when traveling with materials. <br />8. Standard crane signals shall be used. <br />9. Keep loads tree of extraneous materials that may <br />tall as the load is raisetl. <br />10. When stocking, materials shall be properly placed <br />and blocked so as not to slip or become overbalanced. <br />11. Keep yourself and others clear of the load. <br />CHAINS, SLINGS, AND HOOKS <br />1. Chains, slings, and hooks shall he visually im <br />spected belore each use; and, if defects are observed, <br />that Diece of equipment shall be marked conspicuous- <br />ly and removetl lrom service. <br />2. When the links in a chain are distorted, stretched, <br />or elongated excessively, the chain shall be removed <br />from service. <br />3. When wire rope slings show excessive wear or <br />broken strantls in any single lay of the rope, the sling <br />Shall not be used for lifting purposes. <br />4. The standard checklist shall be used in inspecting <br />the equipment before it rs placed in uueration. <br />4.
