Reclamation Plan <br />1. General Reclamation Plan <br />Exhibit E <br />The total disturbed area to be reclaimed under this permit is 42.8 acres. The post-mining land use <br />for the entire permit area will be lake surface and wetland in the lake areas and dry rangeland in <br />the areas above the wetlands. As seen in Map F, the final lake will have a varying shoreline to <br />allow for a more natural appearance. <br />As described in the mining plan, reclamation of the sideslopes will occur concurrently with <br />mining. All mine slopes of 2H:1 V will be backfilled to 3H:1 V or less. Topsoil and overburden <br />from the current mining azeas will be used to reclaim areas which have previously been mined. <br />Topsoil will be replaced on all graded areas except those areas that are 5 feet or more below <br />expected water level. By doing this, the distance that the topsoil and overburden will have to be <br />transported, as well as the amount of material which will have to be rehandled will be <br />minimized. Additionally, the acreage which is unreclaimed will be minimized, which will make <br />the worst case reclamation smaller and thus, the bond will be smaller. <br />In general, reclamation will consist of ripping all areas to a depth of two feet and then restoring <br />topsoil to a depth of 12" to 18", using good upper horizon material from the salvage operation. <br />Discing of soil will then take place followed by seeding and mulching the entire area. Ripping <br />will take place immediately prior to retopsoiling activities. <br />Table E-1 below shows expected amounts of topsoil required for reclamation. <br />Map F shows all the final contours and reclamation planned for the site. The access road will be <br />left intact so that landowner has access to the reclaimed areas. Map C-3 in the 112 Permit shows <br />the cross-sections of the reclaimed terrain compared with the original and the mining terrain. <br />White River City Pit, April 07 E-1 <br />
