reclaimed with. Roads will be constructed 20' wide with road base and will be compacted if
necessary and will have water applications as needed.
Mining will progress through the Phases numerically. A table of expected mining lives for each
Phase is included in Table D-3. The life of each Phase is based on the anticipated annual
average tonnage. Any available topsoil from a new azea will be used to reclaim the previously
mined areas.
Table D-3
Mining Tonnage per Area
Phase Acres Tons Gravel Gravel Life (years)
1 10.96 298,857 1.2
2 10.94 322,692 1.3
3 10.84 276,601 1.1
Total 32.74 898,150 3.6
Note that the azeas above only include mining azeas.
One entrance will be used to access and mine the pit from the East side of the permit. The access
is not currently present, but will be created along with the mining activities and will be left after
reclamation for access. This new access can be seen on Map C-2. Details of the access are shown
on Map C-4 which is part of the Access Application to Rio Blanco County. The road will be
approximately 20-24 feet wide and 850 feet long. In order to meet County standards, the first 50
feet of the road will be paved in order to limit dirt tracking on the County Road 5. The road will
be primarily flat, following the original topography, with only the last portion at a 10% grade to
access the staging area. Additionally, a 24" culvert will be placed across the existing ditch to
allow for water to continue flowing through the ditch.
Topsoil will be stored along the north perimeter of the lake in order to be ready for easy
reclamation. Also, topsoil will be stored in a T high berm along the southern edge of the permit
boundary. The topsoil stockpile along the north side of the pit will allow a visual buffer to the
White River City Pit, April 07 D-5
