Soil Resources Information
The soil map is presented in Appendix E, Figure lE of the original
application, showing type locations and topsoil stripping depths. WFC
will be disturbing approximately four (4) additional acres during
reclamation. This disturbance will result from highwall reduction and
drainage corridor construction. All disturbance will be in the Manburn
soil. Stripping depth will be approximately 1.25 ft.
WFC will have 72,000 cy of topsoil available for reclamation. This is less than
proposed in the original application because mining did not progress to
accumulate additional topsoil. Based on 81.6 acres of disturbance and 72,000
cy of topsoil, topsoil depth will be approximately 0.5 ft.
• Vegetation Information
The vegetation map is presented in Appendix F, Figure 1F of the original
application. Two plant communities, big sagebrush and alkali sagebrush have
been delineated. WFC did not disturb any alkali sagebrush community,
therefore, none will be reclaimed.
WFC proposes to use reference areas to evaluate the success of revegetation.
The big sagebrush and alkali sagebrush reference areas are shown on Figure 1F
of Appendix F and Figure 2 of the original application. However, WFC will
only utilize the big sagebrush community for revegetation success as the alkali
sagebrush was not disturbed.
• 116I (Revised 04/13/90)
