not want to use the area for grazing in the future. Thus, no revegetation is planned for the staging
area.
Mining under the 112 permit will continue at the largest slide where the existing road ends. The
next series of slides to the south which is accessed by the 500 fl long new road will also be
worked as part of phase I .The large slide is estimated to contain 3835 tons of moss rock,
assuming a 3-inch-thick layer over the 4.7 acre surface of the slide. Similarly, the slide contains
approximately 153,435 tons of flagstone, assuming a 10 ft depth of loose flagstone over the 4.7
acre slide area. The anticipated removal rate will vary based on demand for product, but will not
likely exceed 50 tons per day. Flagstone removal will continue on the first slide and the other
slides as demand dictates until all loose, saleable material is removed. It is estintaled that 2100
tons of moss rock and 84,500 tons of flagstone are present in the second slide area south of the
main slide (assuming a thickness of 3 inches for moss rock and 10 ft for flagstone).
It is not possible to estimate the tonnage of flagstone in the outcrops and terrace areas until the
terraces are opened up, because the true thickness of the high quality saleable Flagstone can not
be determined from the existing exposures.
No operations are planned for the winter months and rock removal opcrations may be limited
during the fall big game hunting seasons. Commencing after spring snowmelt iu 1998,
approximately April, the moss rock will also be removed from the second slide area south of the
main slide.
Table of Estimated Moss Rock and Flagstone Reserves
Reserve Area Surface Area Tons of Moss Rock
(assmuing 3 mch layer) Tons of Flagstone
(assuming IO a layer)
Slide Area #1 4.7 acres 3835 tons 153,435 tons
Slidc Area !R2 2.6 acres 2100 torts 84,500 tons
Calculations based on a rock density of 2.386 g/cnt' as measured by Agapito and Associates, Inc.
13
