• Range in Characteristics: Depth to base of argillic ranges
from 12 to 32 inches. The A and B horizons range in texture from
sandy loam to loams. High sodium content in the subsoil ranges
from 12 to 18 inches.
Setting: The Spicerton series are deep soils that have devel-
oped in alluvial sediment from the Coalmont Formation. In the
permit area, this soil is located on low terraces and a portion of
the North Fork of Bolton Draw. Vegetation is sparse and consists
principally of alkali sagebrush and perennial forbs.
Type Location: 2500 feet west and 350 feet north of
corner of Sections 10 and 11.
Unnamed Alluvium, 0 to 2 percent slopes (8)
This soil is deep, nearly level and poorly to moderately well
drained. The soil found on level bottomlands adjacent to the
stream channel of the North Fork of Bolton Draw in a depositional
area below upland drainages.
The soil has a dark grayish brown silt surface horizon and
dark gray and grayish brown silt loam to loam B horizons. The C
horizon is a yellowish brown clay loam.
The C horizon is probably moist a good portion of the year,
however, movement of water by capillary action from the C horizon
to the lower B is restricted because of the significant change in
texture.
Runoff is slow. Surface textures range from silt to silt
loams.
Typifying pedon, Unnamed alluvium:
\J
-12-
