Al (0-3") - Dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) silt; very dark <br />• brown (lOYR 2/2) moist; moderate, very coarse, granular <br />structure; hard, very friable, nonsticky; many fine and <br />medium roots; medium acid (pH 5.7); clear smooth boundary. <br />B2 (3-17") - Dark gray (lOYR 4/1) silt loam, very dark brown <br />(lOYR 2/2) moist; strong, very coarse, subangular blocky <br />structure; hard, very friable, nonsticky; many fine and <br />medium roots; slightly acid (pH 6.3); clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />B3 (17-24") - Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) loam, dark brown (lOYR <br />3/3) moist; strong, very coarse, subangular blocky structure; <br />very hard, very friable, slightly sticky, few fine medium <br />roots; neutral (pH 6.7); clear wavy boundary. <br />Cca (24-60") - Yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) clay loam ,brown to <br />dark brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; strong, very coarse angular <br />blocky structure; extremely hard, extremely firm, sticky; <br />moderately calcareous; mildly alkaline (pH 7.4). <br />Range in Characteristics: Depth to uniformly calcareous <br />material ranges from 20 to 40 inches. Surface textures range from <br />silt to silt loam. <br />• Setting: The unnamed alluvial soil is mapped on the north <br />side of the North Fork of Bolton Draw within the proposed affected <br />area of Pit 2. Slopes are nearly level and vegetation is predomin- <br />ately cool season grasses. Sagebrush cover is usually less than <br />15~ on this soil. <br />Type Location: 2400 feet west and 600 feet north of the <br />corner of Sections 10 and 11. <br />Tiagos loam, 2 to 10 percent slopes (9) <br />The Tiagos series are deep, nearly level to moderately sloping <br />soils found on upland drainageways. <br />J <br />-13- <br />
