Mix No. 1. It is anticipated that final reclamation of this area will occur in 2012, in conjunction with
final reclamation at the office/shop facilities area.
Access Roads Not Associated With Sediment Pond Abandonment. Several permanent access roads
for postmine land use will be retained on the reclaimed landscape. These roads are described in the
bonding section of this tab and are shown on the Postmine Contour Map (Exhibit 12-91~ All remaining
roads will be reclaimed assuming no bonafide requests are received to leave additional roads. No
roads will be left without first receiving Division approval. The road base will be dozed into the cut
area, the remaining surface will be ripped, culverts removed, graded, and the site soiled. Reclaimed
roads will be planted with the appropriate seed mixes and any shrubs or trees according to the
reclamation plan.
Sedimentation Ponds and Access Roads to These Ponds. Ponds 002, 003, and PECOCO Reservoir
have been approved as permanent impoundments (Pond 002 was approved as a permanent
impoundment in CDMG's Proposed Decision and Findings document dated December 31, 7986;
PECECO was approved as a permanent impoundment in CDMG"s Proposed Decision and Findings
document dated November 10, 1992; and Pond 003 was approved as a permanent impoundment in
CDMG's Proposed Decision and Findings document dated June 6, 7997. Appendix 7-6a presents the
permanent pond demonstration for Pond 002, the as-built is shown on Exhibit 7-8. Appendix 7-6b
presents the permanent pond demonstration for Pond 003; the as-built is shown on Exhibit 7-11.
Appendix 7-6g presents the permanent pond demonstration for PECECO, the as-built is shown on
Exhibit 7-181. After all other areas have been reclaimed and have undergone the ten-year observation
period for determining reclamation success, and assuming there are no bonafide requests to leave
other ponds or roads for the future landowner, remaining sediment ponds and associated access roads
will be graded, ripped, and soiled. The reclaimed roads and pond sites will be seeded either with Seed
Mix No. 1 or Seed Mix No. 2, depending on site characteristics. Shrub and tree plantings will be made
if site characteristics and location are appropriate.
Bondin
Introduction. The purpose of this section is to provide a reclamation cost estimate, with supporting
documentation, for determination of a reclamation performance bond for lands disturbed at Peabody's
Seneca II Mine. This document will provide information regarding all disturbed lands within the
proposed permit boundary. The amount of bond required was developed assuming that the bond
would be forfeited at a time when reclamation liabilities are highest within the five-year permit term
(1 99 2-1 9961. This condition is most likely to occur at the stage in the mining sequence when the area
from which topsoil has been removed is largest and the volume of material to backfill the open pit
areas is greatest.

13-50 Revised 12/04
