<br />COLOROW SERIES, ALKALI PHASE <br />Taxonomic Classification: Coarse-loamy, mixed (calcareous), mesic family of <br />Typic Torrifluvents. <br />Setting: Colorow, alkali soils are on flood plains along the White Rivsr. They <br />have formed in coarse textured alluvium and have high concentrations of sodium <br />salts. Slopes are 0 to 3 percent. <br />General Characteristics: Colorow, alkali soils are well-drainad with moderate <br />permeability and medium runoff. Vegetation is primarily greasewood, big sagebrush <br />and mixed perennial grasses. <br />Range in Characteristics: Textures are sandy loam to silt loam with 8 to 16 <br />percent clay. Coarse fragment content is 0 to 25 percent with accumulations of <br />• visible secondary calcium carbonate below about 16 inches. Reaction is strongly <br />to very strongly alkaline with alkalinity increasing with depth. Depth to bedrock <br />is greater than 60 inches. <br />Type Location: 2200 feet east, 3400 feet south of the northwest corner of <br />Section 11, r3W, R101W. Pit number 22. <br />C 1 <br />
