<br />104 - Cushman-Rock Jutcrop complex, 3 to 15 percent slop_as. <br />Phis complex occurs on slopes of shall upland fans. 'The Cushman soil <br />developed from loamy, calcareous alluvium from nearby loamstone on undulating <br />fans. Tha unit is comprised of about 60 parent Cushnan soils and 35 percent <br />rock outcrop. Small areas of Potts soils and shallow loa•ny ~forriorthents wery <br />included in .napping. Potts soils are deep <br />These included soils occupy about <br />15 parent of the unit. <br />Tha Cushman soil is moderately deep, end well-drained. In a typical profile, <br />• <br />the surface and upper subsoil layer is light yellowish brown silt loam about <br />9 inches thick. 'The argillic horizon is brownish yellow silty clay loan about <br />11 inches thick. Tha lower subsoil is light yellowish brown calcareous silty <br />clay loan about b inches thick and is underlain .with very pale brown calcareous <br />silty clay loan to a depth of 34 inches. <br />The Cush,nan soil has moderate permeability .end madiwn runoff. The erosion <br />hazard is moderate from wind and water. Available waterholding capacity is <br />moderately high to high. Effectivy rooting depth is 20 to 40 inches. <br />Tha rock outcrop is primarily exposed siltstone and sandstone bedrock which <br />is calcareous, brown to yellow and slightly Fractured. Included with rock outcrop <br />are very shallow and shallow skeletal soils adjacync to exposed bedrock. <br />This soil is used for livestock grazing and wildlife habitat. fh=_ vegetation <br />is primarily mixed perennial grasses, big sagebrush and chyatgrass. <br />Tha average depth of suitably topsoil material is 30 incliys. This macerial <br />is rated fair to good with suitability decreasing with depth. <br />• <br />
